Greetings from the 2020-2021 NABS Board!

With another empowering national convention behind us, the new NABS Board is ready and inspired to push the momentum of this organization forward! We had so much fun reflecting and laughing with you as well as answering your questions at our “Meet the Board” membership call at the end of July, and it has been wonderful to work with new and returning students throughout the month of August on our four committees as we kick off the year. Our social media and email listserv also continue to be a powerful network for students to connect and benefit from our membership’s collective knowledge.

NABS is proud to be an ongoing resource and strong supporter of student efforts at the state level as well. We have again launched our NABS Liaison Program to work with all 52 affiliates over the course of the year, and as state convention season quickly approaches, we are sending student representatives to many Zoom calls to take part in the virtual festivities. If you are interested in having a national student representative at your next state event, please reach out to [email protected] as soon as possible with the relevant details, and we would be happy to work with you.

A huge concern of blind students everywhere is accessibility within the classroom. This episode focuses on what you need to know to make the jump from high school to college, ensuring that you will receive an equal education to your sighted peers. This episode is full of important tips and tricks that are applicable to any blind student, regardless of their education level. Hear from fellow students and an accessibility coordinator who has worked on a college campus with students with disabilities for a number of years.
